The UK Genetic Testing Network

What is the UKGTN ?

The UK Genetic Testing Network advises the NHS on genetic testing for inherited disorders. It aims to ensure the provision of high quality equitable genetic testing services for all NHS patients across the whole of the UK. This involves evaluating new tests and making recommendations to commissioners on new NHS services. The UKGTN also provides an advisory role to the Department of Health on national policies.

The UK Genetic Testing Network

The UKGTN has built on previous collaborative arrangements between clinical diagnostic laboratories that offer genetic testing services for patients and their families who have, or may be at risk of, a genetic disorder. UKGTN laboratories adhere to high standards for quality and clinical governance. The tests they offer first undergo a rigorous process of evaluation to ensure their scientific validity and clinical utility.

The work of the UKGTN with its partners and the member laboratories ensures the high standards demanded within the modern healthcare setting.
